Reflections for lesson 3.

After completing the HTML challenge, I must say that I definitely learnt a lot about creating websites and creating one is no easy task. I have also learnt that you could actually create a website with the Notepad accessory, which I did not know before.

There are many programs that are used to create websites, such as Microsoft Frontpage and Dreamweaver. I now know how to create the head and body of the website source.

Reflections for lesson 2.

I have learnt what patents and copyright laws are. A patent is a right given to an owner of a product of an idea, enabling him to prevent others from using, copying or making the invention without his consent in the country in which he has obtained patent protection. A trademark or is a distinctive sign or indicator used by an individual, business organization, or other legal entity to identify that the products or services to consumers with which the trademark appears originate from a unique source, and to distinguish its products or services from those of other entities. Copyright is the set of exclusive rights granted to the author or creator of an original work, including the right to copy, distribute and adapt the work. These rights can be licensed, transferred and/or assigned. Even so, these "rules" might be broken at times as there are many people who infringe on them.

When we are taking information from other sources, we must make sure that we have changed and not entirely copied the entire thing, or else we could be thrown in jail :D

Reflections for lesson 1.

I have learnt that the internet is an extremely useful and powerful tool. With a click of a button, you have a seemingly endless amount of knowledge at your fingertips. I have also learnt the following:
-The ways we can connect to the internet is the ISP, OSP and via the Wireless Internet Service Provider
-A domain name is the text version of an IP(internet protocol) address.
-WWW refers to world wide web and a web browser is just a program that lets you access the internet.
- URL means a Uniform Resource Locator
-A link is a built in connection to another webpage
-Picture formats include PNG, JPEG, GIF, TIFF, BMP
-Type of websites include blog, portal, news, informational, business, educational, entertainment, advocacy and personal.
-A FTP refers to a file transfer protocol.
